Change: A Catalyst for New Beginnings

personal development Dec 02, 2024

“Change occurs when your current circumstances are no longer sustainable, thus where new beginnings are born.” – Kristin Lamar

Change is inevitable, but it often comes when our current circumstances are no longer sustainable. That’s where new beginnings are born. And yet, we resist it. We wait too long to create movement and momentum, clinging to routines that feel safe even as they no longer serve us. This journey of transformation and reflection is essential for those seeking personal growth and abundance.

I know this because I’ve lived it—years spent caught in the self-defeat of December and January, watching another year-end and a new one begin, all while knowing that nothing monumental had shifted for me. Each year, I’d go through the motions of hope: new goals, new intentions, new resolutions. And each year, the rinse-and-repeat cycle left me in roughly the same place. Worse, the noise of New Year propaganda—the "New Year, New You" slogans—only deepened the frustration.

Let me be clear: my life wasn’t a sea of doom and gloom. It was, and is a good life. But good isn’t always fulfilling. And the patterns of sameness—the stagnation that creeps in when we’re stuck in our comfort zones—had me living my own version of Groundhog Year. Year after year, despite all my efforts to build my business, improve my relationships, and grow personally and professionally, everything felt like it wasn’t truly advancing.

And then something happened. I received a message—clear, distinct, and profound—from what I call my friends above. As a channel and intuitive, I’ve learned to trust these insights, and this one changed everything. The message was simple:

Make the commitment. Not a resolution. Not a goal. A commitment to end every year better than it started.

At first, it sounded vague, but it was anything but. It became my Prescription for Change. It’s not about wishing or hoping for change; it’s about co-creating it with clarity and action. Here’s how it works.

Step 1: Reflect on the Year That’s Ending

Reflection isn’t just an exercise; it’s a necessity. To truly create change, you have to dive deep into where you’ve been. Look at the promises you made to yourself—the ones you kept and the ones you broke. Identify where you succeeded and where you sabotaged your own progress. This process of reflective goal setting is the cornerstone of transformation through time.

Ask yourself:

  • Where did I hold myself back?

  • Where did fear, guilt, or doubt keep me stuck?

  • What actions did I avoid because they felt too uncomfortable?

This isn’t about beating yourself up. It’s about awareness. Most of us live with blind spots, unconsciously pretending we’re moving forward when we’re not. Don’t wait until the end of December to do this. Start now. Look at the year honestly and without judgment.

Step 2: Create a Vision for the Year Ahead

Where do you want to be at the end of next year? Not just in a general sense but in full detail. What does it look like? What does it feel like? And most importantly, what will you do differently to make it a reality?

This isn’t about small tweaks. It’s about radical, courageous action. Ask yourself:

  • What am I willing to do next year that I’ve never done before?

  • How will I stretch myself beyond my comfort zone?

  • What risks am I finally ready to take?

The Prescription for Change

The prescription is simple but profound. It’s a set of practices and commitments designed to ensure that the end of the next year isn’t just a replay of this one. Here’s what it includes:

1. Who Are You, Really?

Ask yourself three key questions:

  • Who am I?

  • Who am I not?

  • Who do I want—and need—to become?

These questions will challenge you to confront the stories you’ve been telling yourself and the identity you’ve been clinging to. They’re the foundation for meaningful change.

2. Prioritize Your Health

Your health is the foundation for everything else. What are you willing to do to improve your physical, mental, and emotional well-being?

  • What habits will you adopt?

  • What activities will you commit to?

  • How will you ensure consistency?

3. Invest in Growth

True growth requires more than wishing for it. It demands action.

  • What books will you read?

  • What courses will you take?

  • What skills will you develop?

  • What rooms will you enter that challenge you to think bigger?

4. Expand Your Mind and Soul

How will you deepen your connection to yourself and the universe?

  • What daily practices will you implement to expand your consciousness?

  • How will you cultivate a mindset of clarity, calm, and compassion?

  • What will you do differently to nurture your inner being?

5. Take Monumental Risks

This is the game-changer. What risk have you been avoiding? What bold leap will you take to ensure that the next year ends in a way that is unrecognizable from where it began?

Reverse Engineer the Plan

Once you’ve crafted your vision and written your prescription, reverse-engineer it. Work backward to identify the steps you’ll need to take each month, each week, and each day. Keep this plan visible. Read it regularly. Let it fuel your actions and decisions.

The Bottom Line

Change will come, whether we like it or not. When our circumstances become unsustainable, life has a way of forcing our hand. But what if, instead of waiting for the universe to push you, you chose to pull yourself forward? What if you co-created change with intention and purpose?

The Prescription for Change isn’t about resolutions or surface-level goals. It’s about transformation—a deep, authentic commitment to ending every year better than it started. It’s a practice I’ve used to break free from my own patterns of stagnation, and I’m sharing it with you because I believe it can do the same for you.

So, as one year ends and another begins, I challenge you to write your own prescription. Reflect. Dream. Act. And if you need support along the way, I’m here for you. Let’s make this the year everything changes.
